Well... it's December 2nd and the title of this is Day 1, so you can clearly tell that we are already falling behind... Apparently when we went home for Thanksgiving Eliza caught a cold... We actually ended up taking her to the chiropractor yesterday to help get her aligned and help her have a bowel movement... Her temperature was up to 100° last night.. She wouldn't let me leave her side for two seconds to write this... Since we took her to the chiropractor and were fighting sickness we didn't get to do a craft or anything like that either...

We still managed to do day 1 of the Advent and the Bible plan though! I will let you know however, that we put all of the actual events for Advent in the calendar last night around 10pm... Then did day 1... 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ We are going to get this done though!

*Ignore my awful handwriting... I was writing really fast, also thank you cards were the only thing we had on hand..*

Day One of our Advent calendar ended up just being to start our Bible plan. Matt and Eliza pulled the card down and I read the card. Then, we read our Bible plan which had a little devotional, and the verse which was Genesis 3:15.

The devotional was about how God's first promise was about Christmas, aka the birth of Christ! In Genesis, we read about how after Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden, mankind was separated from his presence. Sin robbed us, and made it impossible for God, who is clean and perfect, to connect with humans, who are unclean. Since God loves us so much, He desperately wanted to fix that, so He could connect with us still. God knew instantly that He had to send His son to die for our sins so that Satan could not win. The devotional reminds us to focus on "the fulfillment of God's first promise." God never forsakes us or lies to us. He stands true to His word and best of all He fully loves us.

If you are a parent, you understand even more how hard it would be to send your own offspring to die for others. Imagine loving someone so much that you would send your offspring to die for them. It's absolutely crazy to me, and it just shows how much God loves us.

The devotional also came with a prayer, and I am going to post it here in case you're not following along on the app with me! I will also put Genesis 3:15 on here as well.

"Father, I'm amazed that Your first response to our sin was a promise that it would not keep us apart forever. Thank You for choosing from the very beginning to send Jesus to make a way for us to be in a relationship with You. As we approach Christmas this year, give me a deeper revelation of what You accomplished as He came into the world. Let me experience the joy You felt when Jesus was born and the fulfillment of Your promise was set in motion." -Prayer

"I will put hostility between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will strike your head, and you will strike his heel." - Genesis 3:15

Genesis 3:15 is what God said to the serpent who was the physical representation of sin. Eve's seed (offspring) which would eventually lead to Christ defeated sin.

It's all really cool how God loves us so much. I don't know about you guys, but it comforts me to have a God who loves us and cares for us completely. It gives me peace about life and what is to come. I am a lot less stressed knowing that we all have Someone protecting us and looking out for us who is not restricted by the world. I love thinking about God's love and grace for us! It helps relax me in moments of stress and anxiety!

Thank you for reading this, and hearing my heart on the subject!

I look forward to talking to you guys "tomorrow". Since today is the 2nd, I will actually be writing more in just a little bit.. We do have something FUN planned for today (as long as Eliza is feeling better and in a better mood.) I didn't get to video yesterday due to Eliza being a little grumpy, but we will see how today goes. (Even though it is already 1:40pm on the 2nd..)
