Advent day 5! Woo, well kinda.. it's December 7th at 3:41am currently... 🤦🏽‍♀️ I did most of day 2, 3, and 4 in 1 day, but couldn't get around to 5. (Day 3 & 4 aren't posted yet, because Matt hasn't proof read them yet...) If you weren't aware, this past weekend was crazy.. Go checkout 2021 Advent Day 3 if you don't know...

Day 5's advent calendar was to go meet Santa. (Which we're not even doing Santa with Eliza, but for some reason decided to go see Santa...?) Even with that though, we could not go meet Santa due to her being sick... even though she was FINALLY feeling better! We didn't have tons of screaming this day, and even had some fun playing. It was a MUCH needed day! We did end up putting up our stockings! Even though we won't be here for Christmas, I still had to decorate and have everything looking nice for Christmas time! Especially with all of the friends and family we had coming this month. I actually found out this day that if we hadn't been sick my mom and dad (Lollie and Pops) were also going to come visit us this weekend for Eliza's birthday.
It worked well that my parents did not come, but man was I tired! I could've really used some time seeing my parents. Matt's parents were a GREAT help on her birthday though, and I was and still am beyond happy they were willing to spend some time with grumpy goober.
Today's Bible advent was a devotional, Zechariah 9:9, Romans 3:10, Romans 1:17, 2 Corinthians 5:21, and Romans 5:8. The picture quote for today says "The righteous one was born on Christmas to show us God's love in the most powerful way possible." Todays devotional talks about how God promised that the future King would come with salvation and bring His righteousness. All humans (except Jesus) are in the same exact boat, we are born into a sin nature and unable to make ourselves righteous. We actually can only earn righteousness by faith through Jesus. One of my favorite quotes says, "It's not about who we are, it's about who He is."
Jesus was born perfect, and continued His whole life perfect. He stayed close to God's side through out all of His trials in life, and He was able to stay righteous his whole entire life. When Jesus died for us, He took on all of our unrighteousness, put it to death, and gave His righteousness and intimacy with God to us. God's love for us is not based on anything we do or do not do, but what Jesus has already done for us! Jesus was born on Christmas to show us God's love, by making us righteous in His sight!
We are able to fully talk to and connect with God! How cool is that? We are able to have intimate conversation and love with the creator of the universe! One of my favorite songs growing up was by the Lads called "Creator". The main chorus lyrics said, "My best friend is the creator of the universe." Which I always thought was the coolest thing! Another lyric from the chorus said, "He wants to know about my life today." That's crazy! The creator of the whole universe wants to know you and have relation with you! The CEO of Disney, Walmart, Target, etc. doesn't even know that you exist, but the creator of the whole universe wants to know how your day was! I just have always loved that, and thinking about it is completely crazy to me!
"Father, You are full of amazing grace! I receive Your righteousness today by faith in Your Son, Jesus. I realize that You are pleased with me only because of what Jesus has done for me. Thank You, Jesus, for covering me. Strengthen me with the confidence that I am secure in Your Righteousness. Help me remember I haven't earned it myself so I can serve You with humility and gratitude all my life." - Prayer
"Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem! Look, your King is coming to you; He is righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." - Zechariah 9:9
"As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one." - Romans 3:10
"For in it God's righteousness is revealed from faith to faith, just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith." - Romans 1:17
"He made the One who did not sin to be sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." - 2 Corinthians 5:21
"But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us!" - Romans 5:8
